Winners compare their achievements with their goals, while losers compare their achievements with those of other people.I had another quote set for the day, but a situation that arose today that made me think if this one.

First Issue: My business associate and I were having a discussion about a business issue. I kept basing my opinion on what I knew was the case for others in the same situation. I based it on previous experience, history, and knowledge. He would not budge to change his plan. He had to say it several times, but he finally got it through to me that I was not in alignment with our goal. I was in alignment to the experience of others, their failure and not my success. Their experience did not mean that I would have the same experience because my expectations would be different. I can make anything happen; nothing is contingent on the experience of others. Edison tried a thousand different ways to make a light bulb, he failed everytime, but he did not let those failures prevent him from realizing his goal. I to, must learn that just because others have failed, it dose not mean that I will. I am not them.

Second Issue: I was watching the movie The Karate Kid. In the birthday scene young Daniel asks his sensei what he thought his chances were of winning the tournament. Miagi answered with, "it does not matter what I think, as I am not fighting. What matters is what you think. WOW! That really hit home. How often do we ask others for their opinion when all that matters is whether we BELIEVE we can succeed. It's all up to us, not them. Their belief will not affect the outcome of achieving our desires. The opinions of others can be negative, everyone's opinion can be negative, but if we believe in our success and align our self with success, we can meet our goals.
