"You cannot solve a problem from the same level of thinking that created it." -- Albert Einstein
The world is full of violence. Heinous atrocities happen everywhere; no place or country is immune. The decent people of the world are asking “What is the cause?”
Our country is overwhelmed with violence from every direction. One can see the manifestation of violence in all of our media; television, film, music, and general entertainment. It’s well known in the entertainment industry that the more violent the media is, the more attention will be given to it, and that translates into money.
In the media, graphic images of violence have proliferated, and are now so common that the populace has become anesthetized to it. The boundaries of what is acceptable have been eroded by the constant exposure. Entire generations have matured while being bombarded by these graphic images on television, and they have come to think that this violence in our lives and around the world is normal. Television news brings terror into our living rooms everyday. Our attention is explicably drawn to it.
Just by watching the news or reading the newspaper we focus our attention on the terrors of society and the world. Remember, Energy Flows Where Attention Goes. The more you pay attention to terror and evil, the stronger it gets in your life and society.
In the James Ray book, Practical Spirituality
, he wrote a chapter entitled "Stand 'For' Something Versus 'Against' It." To quote James Ray; “If your full attention continues to focus upon terror, ye feed the beast... It's a raging bonfire, and you're throwing another log on it day after day, week after week. The "war on terror" feeds and propagates terror... Violence in our media and in our homes feeds and creates more violence”
And if the people of the United States, and the world, don't wake up soon, violence and war will only continue to intensify.
The only way to stop the madness is to increase our consciousness and shift our focus. Mother Teresa was once asked to attend a war rally. She replied “when you have a rally for peace, I’ll be there.” She had shifted her focus and consciousness to attract energy to what would really help the world; Peace. All of us should start shifting the focus of our minds and lives from terror and violence; and start concentrating and focusing on the “Propagation of Peace”.
As we begin to shift our individual consciousness, we shift the consciousness of our country and, eventually, the consciousness of our planet. It may not occur overnight, but let us begin now, before it's too late.
